The Peacework Village Network is a pioneering new model for social change. It brings together people from a variety of disciplines and across different cultures to share resources, knowledge, and insights for the purpose of alleviating conditions of poverty and disparity.
The Peacework Village Network is based on the concept that every need in a community is interrelated. Sustained economic development depends on access to education, available health care, safe places to live and work, infrastructure for transportation and communication, reliable sources of nutrition and water, and respect for human rights. None of these needs can be fully addressed without adequate resources and support in every other area.
The two primary components of the Peacework Village Network are local community leaders and the university. Community leaders alone have the history, understanding, and insights required for effective and sustained development in their own communities. On the other hand, the university alone offers the breadth of resources and expertise needed for change - education, engineering, business, medicine, construction, law, social services, literacy, and more. Finally, corporations and other partners bring uniquely powerful economic and human resources to the partnership.
Peacework engages in transformational work across the following fields:
Agriculture · Economic Development · Literacy · Education · Youth Entrepreneurship · Environment · Heath and Medicine · Human Rights · Engineering & Infrastructure · Women's Initiatives
