In March, 2008 Bob and Janice Wells funded and participated in a partnership project between a group of civil engineering and construction and building students and faculty from the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech to provide water purification resources, sanitation projects, and other engineering projects for a primary school in Bella Vista Belize. Bob Wells, owner and manager of the construction firm VIRTEXCO in Virginia, used his expertise to assist and work alongside students on the school site. His wife, Jan, used her interest and knowledge in horticulture to help student volunteers clean up the construction site and plant flowers to maintain an appealing environment for the students of the primary school. Virtexco regularly hires graduates of Virginia Tech, and through this experience, Bob was exposed to some of the most motivated students about to enter the industry.
